Onika

Onika qualifies as needing a forever foster because she has been diagnosed with asthma. She requires medication (pill form) daily but is otherwise healthy and happy. She gets on well with other laid back cats, and needs a more low -key home because of her condition.

Forever fosters assume that they've adopted Onika but HCRS will take care of vetting and medications needed going forward. The important thing is that the forever foster expects to keep Onika as if she was a fully adopted cat, and the responsibilities and love that come with that.

If you are interested in 'forever fostering' Onika, please read more HERE, and then fill out an adoption application (protocol for forever fosters).

Onika's bio below:

Onika is "from away", arriving in Halifax a short time ago from the South Shore.  She had been rescued in the Yarmouth area and adopted by a person living in Halifax.  Within days, without even giving Onika time to unfurl her legs, her adopter decided she wasn't the right cat for them and asked the rescuer to come retrieve her.  One of our volunteers learned of this situation and we elected to take her into our foster network as a favour to the cat and the rescuer both.

And our conviction that Onika is indeed a lovely cat has been affirmed.  Not only is she a lovely fawn-coloured tabby, but she is also petite and delicate in body type, the very kind of attributes that often appeal to people.  In the early going, Onika is timid which doesn't make for a good first impression, but after only a couple of days, Onika comes right out of her shell.  Turns out she is an uber-affectionate lap cat; she will give you head butts, ask for belly and chin rubs, and follow you about the house happily. She craves attention and would be an amazing companion.

In accordance with our routine vet protocol, Onika has been spayed, tested for disease and treated for parasites.  She is a youngster, guestimated to be only about a year old.
