Nova
Nova is an petite, long-haired black cat, where pictures don't begin to do her beauty justice. She has been in the same foster home for several months and we think it is now high-time we got her adopted into a home of her very own. She was rescued in Burnside when a friend of a friend told us about her and other cats at large outside a large industrial property, just as winter was coming on strong. Nova was easily captured, as hunger tends to make cats a little less cautious about walking into a trap. We initially had notions to return Nova back outdoors to this property as part of our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, thinking that she was feral, but she soon revealed herself to be a sweet and affectionate little thing, albeit a bit shy.
She became one of several being fostered by one of our volunteers, but then some of the other cats started to pick on her, so we had to sequester her in a separate room to give her some peace. This room - the "cat room" - is the one that serves as the intake room, where our new cats are first placed in a kennel. There, Nova has presided over the throng, and we have learned that she absolutely adores having other cats around for company.
Nova has been long since fully vetted, including spay, testing for disease and treatment for parasites. Her ear was notched as we originally thought she would be TNR'ed, but that seeming blight we now regard as a badge of honor, given that she is now an adoptable pet. She is guestimated to be between 3-5 years old. Because she is timid, we would like to see her adopted into a quiet, stable household with no small children. And we are also hoping to find her a home with at least one other cat for company, preferably one that doesn't have bossy or bully-like tendencies as she is so retiring and docile.
We ask for a minimum $160 donation for each of our rescued cats. A charitable tax receipt will be issued.
