Memphis
Memphis was rescued from an untenable situation. The manager of the commercial property in a rural area outside Halifax where Memphis had been clearly abandoned did not want her rescued, if you can imagine. Turns out the manager preferred that Memphis be left to hunt for any rodents that were found around the property; in other words, a free form of rodent control, never mind the fact that there was no food and shelter for Memphis provided otherwise. Thankfully the staff of this business weren't in favor of this idea and they asked us to take her into our care once they were able to catch her.
The rest of the story we will leave for Memphis' foster dad to tell:
"When I first got her, she could be grouchy at times, especially when trying to move her from someplace (like my bed), but since then, we've gotten used to each other and she doesn't make much of a fuss. She loves to sleep on the bed (and on me), which I'm not a fan of, so I usually don't let her - and that's when she started jumping on my lap while working or on the couch. So she definitely needs some cuddles one way or another which I'm sure many adopters will appreciate. When she does get a bit upset (like when I constantly take her off my hockey gear), she doesn't seem to hold any sort of grudge. She'll only rarely play with toys on her own, so some play time with a laser pointer or ball, feather, etc. is needed. She's 100% ok with being picked up and carried around. I've know some cats that are good at getting under your feet, but Memphis is an expert, so you have to be careful when moving around. She doesn't like pate wet food, so any wet food with sauce is the way to go - I usually give her some dry and wet food in the morning. She's really fluffy and sheds quite a bit, but seems to actually enjoy the brush and hand vacuum now (this took a couple months). She's had zero issues with not using the litter box."
So there you go. An opinionated cat that insists on lovins while tolerating the brush and hand vacuum in an effort to keep the fur down.
Memphis has had "the works" at our veterinary clinic (spayed, tested, parasite treatments, etc.), so she's ready to roll. Interested?
We ask for a minimum $175 donation for each of our rescued cats. A charitable tax receipt will be issued.
