Honey Bunny
Bunny came to us from the Eastern Shore, where she had taken up residence inside a small, wooden shelter to have her two kittens. The couple who had been feeding Bunny, had noticed that she was clinging to this structure, even in the wind and rain. They reached out to us for assistance, hoping we would be able to catch the wee babes before they got too old or something happened to them. The day we arrived - a cold and blustery day in late spring - Bunny was holed up in the shelter. We were able to creep up and seal off the opening with a trap before she made a move to escape. Would that all rescues were this easy!
Bunny was quite timid and nervous in the early going, but at no time did she ever show her foster mom a claw or a tooth. She soon came out of her shell and started showing signs of affection, even as her kittens rampaged around with nary a care in the world. When the kittens were weaned and then eventually adopted out, Bunny was free to join the "gen pop" of the household, and a happier cat could not be found. She absolutely adores other cats! This means that we are hoping to find her a home with another cat or two for company. She will likely be shy in the early going, but will soon emerge to show you her sweet and gentle disposition.
Bunny has been spayed, vaccinated, treated for parasites, tested for disease (negative), and microchipped as part of our routine veterinary protocol.
We ask for a minimum $200 donation for each of our rescued cats. A charitable tax receipt will be issued. As Carrie and Laney are bonded, we request that they be adopted as a pair.
