Glasgow & Alton
We caught word of a kitten hit by a car on a secondary highway on the Eastern Shore, and our hearts sank, knowing that there was likely a family in the near vicinity. In the absence of any "intel" about cats in the area, we set up a feeding station in a sheltered area near where the kitten had been struck and killed. Our tracking camera soon revealed all. There were four more cats spotted at various times in the night - never during the day - including two adults and two kittens. It then became a matter of setting up traps at the times when we would expect the cats to swing by the food zone, and soon enough we had the whole lot of them. We were so relieved to discover that each one of the cats was friendly, albeit a bit shy, which suggested they had been abandoned to their fate. There would be no need to return them outdoors. In truth, we got lucky. It's just so terribly sad that a kitten was sacrificed to the road for the little family to be noticed.
We are looking for a home for two members of the family, including Glasgow, the white and black mama cat, and Alton, the tabby kitten, now about 5 months old. Glasgow has the most extraordinarily soft, plush fur, much like an angora rabbit. She is a sweet and gentle girly who loves to be sooked and petted. She was very skinny when she first came to us, but has since filled out nicely. Glasgow will often romp with her kitten, Alton, playing like a kitten herself. Alton is a brave, energetic and playful boy, loving to romp with his bouncy balls and toy mice. He does this adorable thing of touching his nose to his foster mom's when she reaches down to pet him, something she finds so sweet.
Glasgow and Alton have both been fully vetted, meaning they've been fixed (spay/neuter), vaccinated, tested (negative) for disease and treated for parasites. We are really hoping to find them a home together, where they can live a life of luxury after such a mean start. We would like the honour the kitten that was lost by making sure the rest of the family live long and prosper.
Thanks for your interest!
We ask for a minimum $200 donation for each of our rescued cats. A charitable tax receipt will be issued.
