Doug

This handsome fella was rescued outside a South End apartment building as he had been seen scavenging for food in the area.  Doug was initially very upset and anxious, as he didn't know where he was or what was happening to him, and we weren't sure how well socialized he was.  But once we whisked him in to the vet clinic for "the works", he quickly came to realize that he was on the receiving end of salvation.  And then he had his Hallelujah moment.  From the point forward, he could barely be peeled off his foster mom's lap and when he wasn't muckled on, he was following her around from room to room.  Turns out Doug is a super sweet and loving cat who was just longing for a home of his own.  And thankfully we got him in before he had to struggle any more out there in that cold cold world.

Dougie has been neutered, tested (negative) for disease and treated for parasites as a matter of course.  He prefers to be an only cat (the sole object of your affection) and because he can be a bit of a fraidy cat when his environment is changeable, we think he would do best in a home with no children.

Doug's first foster (and the kind person who decided he needed rescuing), wrote a bit about Doug as well!

"Doug  is one special boy who has survived the odds. He's just the sweetest guy. He came to us from a rough life on the streets of downtown Halifax. Full of scabs from bites and scratches from the other strays attacking him, the vet gave him an antibiotic shot right away. Poor Doug slept and ate and slept some more for five days before he ventured around his new foster home. He finally felt safe enough to relax and really truly sleep. It was apparent he had been neglected and quite possibly abused. Even more apparent was his gentle soul, needing and wanting and most deserving of love. It didn't take long for him to trust his foster mum and develop a bond. Doug is always purring. He loves affection and he really loves to play. His favourite pass time is watching the birds from the window and cat nip. He is a beautiful colour of blue silver and has medium to long fur. He will melt your heart and give you hugs when you pick him up. Once you're "his person", you won't know how you lived without him."

We ask for a minimum $140 donation for each of our rescued cats. A charitable tax receipt will be issued.
